Tom is a career civil and transportation law litigator whose practice focuses primarily on marine, inland marine, and transportation claims; maritime personal injury defense; domestic and international sales of goods; cargo, product, and premises liability defense; and complex commercial litigation. Tom is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and New York, U.S Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He regularly practices before federal and state courts, arbitration panels, and mediators.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. He earned his law degree at the University of Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio.
With over 25 years in private practice and transportation industry experience, Tom has represented a wide variety of corporate clients ranging from global Fortune 100 companies to small businesses. Representative clients include major marine insurers; vessel owners and charterers; and carriers; NVOCCs, motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and transportation intermediaries; maritime property owners; vessel repairers; industrial manufacturers; supply chain and cold chain service providers; and bulk commodity traders.
Tom regularly represents clients in matters concerning marine and inland marine cargo claims, subrogation and policy coverage; maritime contract disputes; carrier legal liability defense; major marine casualties and navigational errors; vessel charter party disputes and charterer’s legal liability; cold chain logistics practices; supply chain contract breach; marine terminal operator agreement litigation; maritime tort litigation; online peer-to-peer marketplace liability defense; general commercial and tort civil litigation including breach of and/or enforcement of contract; negligence; general liability defense; and International (UNCISG) and domestic (UCC Art. 2 and 2A) contracts for the sale / lease of goods.
